A lasting Impression

Seeing as I had a little free time tonight I decided to give Virtua Fighter 5 a whirl.  Its been sitting untouched in my pile of games since new years and whithout having played the demo, nor a virtua fighter game since the days of the Saturn & dreamcast, it was a little… odd.

Dont get me wrong, It’s probably just because I’m used to playing DOA & Soul Calibur for the last several years, I just wasn’t as impressed as I thought I’d be.  There’s more menus than there needs to be, and while there’s a bunch of characters there’s nothing to tell you what kind of skill level they require.  The combat also feels kinda sluggish, blocking and reversals dont really seem to happen all that often and you always get hit mid combo for some reason even though you know you landed that last hit.  Then theres the AI, if you appear to be doing well the AI tends to stick to the lower attacks, forget the fact that you can just couch yourself, it doesn’t seem to matter to them.

But yet; this is only an hours worth, maximum, of play time.  No doubt I’ll go have another go at it after I get some more dissertation stuff.  I’m just not going to be in that urgent a need to play it.  DOA4 on the other hand….

While I should have been doing my reading for Corporate Governance or wirting my disertation, I’ve been doing some general house cleaning around here.

Apart from that not much to report

 …here, have a lolcat:

The Infernal Machine

Having been a victim of ‘E-fraud’ before, as the kids these days seem to be calling it, you already know the procedural steps you have to take to get the situation sorted.

Step 1: start changing all your passwords relating to anything that remotely touches the internet

Step 2 : Get on the phone and start shouting

Step 3: Wait around patiently for things to rectify themselves.

But even if you’ve suffered from having your details being stolen before, when you see it happening you’re still left with a feeling of:

This time it was’s turn to mess up & have a security breach, now some bastard (no doubt a W.O.W nerd trying to find ways of funding his fetish of gold farming – lol epic loots!) down in London has ordered himself 4 USB pens & god knows what else.  However, he made one fatal flaw, he put in his address before changing everything on my account.  So if you or anyone else has ways of making this guys life a living hell, I’m more than happy to give out his address.  Alas it’s something that cant be sorted right away, so no doubt I’ll update on the status of getting everything sorted again tomorrow.

In dire need of cheering up today I met with Rhona, who I hadn’t seen all year to go and see Cloverfield (again), I’m standing by giving that a solid 9/10 as it still stands up after a second viewing.  I should point out I’m also standing by giving Juno a 7.5/10 as its one of those movies, while technically compotent, is instantly forgetable under the slew of better movies that will be coming this year.  But anyway, Rhona seemed to agree on Cloverfield as there was the odd scream from her during the course of the movie.

In other places GDC, the Games Developer Conference, is also taking place in America where apart from the announcement of Gears of War 2 there hasn’t been much else to come out of it.  However if anything major happens no-doubt there’ll be a blog on it at somepoint.

Goodnight all!

It’s currently after 4am & I’ve just finished watching WWE No Way Out.  Overall it was a pretty good PPV.  Even if you aren’t in to wrestling chances are that you’re going to hear about an incident involving a certain high profile US Boxing champion in the news tomorrow.

I havent updated in a while, no reason why… I’m just putting it down to lazyness, so I’ll try & get back into the swing of writing these things more regularly.

Anyway, I’m off to bed, god knows what time I’ll wake up tomorrow.

It’s Snow Armaggedeon

I should have probably posted before now but my internal clock is just getting back on track from last weekend.  Seeing as my old flatmate showed up on saturday there was to be much drinking done in the Cathouse and then there was the fact that on Sunday that, not only did I end up getting myself a copy of Burnout: Paradise there was also the matter of the Royal Rumble aswell.

Just as I was getting back into the whole wrestling thing again the management at the WWE decide to bring ‘him’ back.  That’s right, mr “Superman” John Cena miraculously has returned as entrant #30 and won the rumble!  Fantastic! wont be watching that for a while then.

I’m also down a HDTV for the time being, on Tuesday the fine folks at City Link came to pick up my Toshiba set to fix the left speaker which has suddenly cut out.  Normally I’d be alright with a week or two away from the gaming scene, especially with my dissertation looming over my head (212 words done by the way), but I keep getting updated on Stephens’ Guitar Hero 3 progress and while I’ve fallen out with the game I feel the urge to go in and attempt to 5 star everything in the last set just to proove a point.  There’s also the fact that at somepoint during this week a copy of Devil May Cry 4 is going to land through the letter box and I’m going to unable to play it, not to mention that I was rather getting into Burnout the night before the guy from Citylink had to pry the TV out of my hands.

So once again I’m down in Dumfries trying to get some form of driving licience, only I’m abit early, I’ve got a lesson tomorrow and my actual test on Friday – hopefully I’ll pass this time, considering the amount of money thats been thrown at this thing.  I was expecting to arrive with about 6ft of snow, due to the weather warnings being given by my mum over the phone but its completely dry here.  Here’s hoping it stays that way for my test on Friday.

I’ve also seen the new episode of Lost & while its rather good, I wont divulge anything until its been aired on Sunday (9pm on Skyone incase you didn’t already know).  I’ve also caught up to date with Season 2 of Heroes aswell, I wont say much as its been covered alot (plus it hasn’t been aired in the UK yet) but it’s probably better than the first season.

right, back to the dissertation…
